Our special guest on today’s podcast is Maria Masliy.
Maria is the founder of shoe label Marsala and is the co-owner of fashion sales agency, The Sustainables.
She lives in the Netherlands now, as she had to flee Ukraine in March of 2022.
Caroline’s conversation with Maria is about her experiences with owning a business and being a boss during war time,
the comparison between gender roles in the Netherlands and Ukraine and Maria’s view on gender equality in the Netherlands.

Introduction
Maria Masliy is the founder of shoe label Marsala and is the co-owner of fashion sales agency, The Sustainables. In March 2022 she fled from Ukraine to the Netherlands.
She studied international economics and marketing and in 2015 she launched her shoe label ‘Marsala’ without any experience. A year later she won a scholarship for a degree in fashion design from HEARST UK to Kingston University. She is also a photographer.
